Have you explored the Emails tab on your Cloudflare Dashboard? It provides you with a complimentary business email address, for example, [email protected], letting you receive emails in your personal mailboxes like Gmail or Yahoo. However, it does come with a notable limitation—you can't send emails using the Cloudflare-generated business email address.

In this insightful piece, we aim to guide you on integrating Cloudflare SMTP with Gmail, thereby enabling you to send emails from your professional Cloudflare email address. Ready to elevate your emailing game? Let's dive in!

Navigate to the Cloudflare site, and in your dashboard, click on the Email tab. This is where the magic happens, and we shape your professional Cloudflare email.

cloudflare email 1

Time to create your custom email address! Craft your ideal professional identity and designate the target email address (i.e., your Gmail account) where you will receive all the incoming mails directed to your Cloudflare email.

Next, you have to authenticate your Gmail address. Check your Gmail inbox and locate the verification email sent from Cloudflare. Click to confirm and solidify your Cloudflare email setup.

Congratulations! You've successfully learned how to create your custom email using Cloudflare. Your Gmail inbox is now set to receive all messages sent to your newly minted professional email address. Let's now journey towards using it for outbound emails.

Now, we transition seamlessly to the next focus of our guide - integrating your Cloudflare email with Gmail for outbound communication. Buckle up as we dive into sending emails using your Cloudflare custom email address.

First off, sign into your Gmail account. Locate the gear-shaped 'Settings' icon towards the upper right of your dashboard. Click on it and select See all settings to access your comprehensive Gmail settings.

Next, find and click on the Accounts and Import tab. Look out for the Send mail as section and there, click on the Add another email address option. This is where we'll add your Cloudflare business email.

send mail as

A new window will pop up. This is where you specify the name that will be displayed when sending emails from your Cloudflare address. After entering the desired name and the Cloudflare email address, hit Next Step>> to proceed. Each step brings you closer to your professional email communication goals!

popup

Now, fill the rest of the details like this-

SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com

Username: Your Gmail Username ( in case of [email protected], user is the username).

Password: Your gmail password. (Now, for most of the users, gmail password does not work. You’ll have to use the App Password).

Note:  If you have two factor authentication turned on, then you can turn it off (just while the SMTP verification) or you can generate App Password from your Google Account >> Security tab and use that password instead.

And port to 465.

smtp

Now a verification code will be sent to your custom email address, which you know you’ll find on your gmail inbox. You will find a verification code which you need to enter in the  the next step and verify.

After verification you can choose between your original gmail address and the custom cloudflare email address while sending an email. Or you can make it default by going to the Accounts and Import tab again and clicking on make default. That’s it. you’ve gotten what you wanted. 😉

Hope from this post, you’ve found what you were looking for.

Hi mate, thanks for your comment. Yeah, I just meant to say how to use that mail address created using cloudflare on from gmail and send email from that. (for making people understand in an easy language, I used that.)

Have a good day. 🌻❤

Seems I had to reduce some of the security settings on my gmail account, eventually got it working.

Hi, You have to disable two factor authentication for just the SMTP verification.
Or you can generate app passwords from your google account manager and use that password there.

Hope it’ll solve the issue. 😊

What worked for me was to enable two-factor authentication and add an app to my account. This will generate a password that you will use for this setup. Easy and secure. The “add app” will be below the two-factor authentication as of May/16/2022

This worked only after making a generated app password with two-factor authentication. But it worked perfectly after that. thank you!

Tried App Password?

If it doesn’t work. Try disabling two factor authentication for a while and using the same google account password for SMTP verification

You no longer have access to [email protected]. To send this email, choose a different “from” address and try again. Learn more at https://support.google.com/mail/answer/22370 Can you please explain what is the reason?
